I have been trying to figure out woman’s minds along with their other more physical parts for a long time. Today’s podcast has a story I think you’ll find important. I was a hypnotherapist for about 18 years. Hypnosis is fascinating. One of the great hypnotic experiments proved that there’s much more going on between our ears than we understand. I love to kid you, but this is no kidding. The great hypnotic experiment went like this. A hypnotist made a guy hypnotically deaf, blindfolded him, sat him in a chair and gave him a post hypnotic suggestion that he wouldn’t hear anything until the hypnotist said the guy’s name. Then the hypnotist hooked the subject up to an EEG machine, which reads physical reactions in the brain. He took a pistol loaded with blanks, and shot it off right beside the subject’s head. POW! The EEG readout showed no reaction and the subject didn’t flinch because he was hypnotically deaf. The hypnotist then said the guy’s name, and he could hear again. The question is of course, if the guy didn’t hear the gunshot because he was hypnotically deaf how did he hear his name which was the signal to come out of the hypnosis. That’s why we say besides the conscious and the unconscious, there’s a state of mind called, “The Observing Self.” And guys, I think your “Observing Self” should have a wonderful time during National Breast Awareness Month. And although your unconscious mind might smirk a little your conscious mind could semi- truthfully deny everything.

Monday, October 30th, 2017Today’s podcast is about how I solved the utter confusion of the fact that even women like my Lady Wonder Wench who are blessed with a good sense of humor can’t understand the kind of pictures guys get in our minds when we see a sign that says this is National Breast Awareness month. It’s like fart jokes. Ladies don’t think fart jokes are funny either. After decades of research I’ve finally developed a fart joke that makes my Lady laugh no matter how hard she tries not to. I just look her in the eye and very quickly I say, “Fart, fart, fart.” It works every time. Try it on your lady. Just look her in the eye and say “Fart, fart, fart.”

Sunday, October 29th, 2017Some of you have been listening to podcasts like today’s for a while, so you will have some understanding of the testosterone tsunami that shook me today. This is no kidding. I saw a sign outside a medical building today that said…”This is National Breast Awareness month.” My Lady Wonder Wench was driving, and in an instant I understood that old psychological precept: “Your unconscious mind is much faster than your conscious mind.” My big mouth was connected to my unconscious mind at the time and it let out some kind of noise that sounded like “YYEEEHHHAAA STOP.” My conscious mind would have shut my big mouth. My unconscious mind was faster. And it was really no competition. When I yelled, “Stop.” My Lady Wonder Wench hit the brakes, the tires shrieked and smoked, our heads just missed the windshield and the cars behind us blew a car horn symphony. It was clearly time for confession. But when I explained that I just needed her to take my picture in front of that sign that said it was National Breast Awareness month, she did a 360 degree eye roll right out loud, said something she knew wasn’t true about my mother and father’s marital status when I was born, hit the gas and drove us home in what might best be described as a vast, fast, frozen silence. That’s frozen cold…as in distant. Very distant.

Saturday, October 28th, 2017We’re talking about the power of fantasies in today’s podcast. This picture of a kiosk at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is an example of one of my biggest fantasies that came true this week. It was taken by our daughter Kris and our son Eric.

Friday, October 27th, 2017It’s Friday. Wow what a week. But now it’s time for Dick’s Details from today’s podcast. Dick’s Details is a bunch of totally un-important stuff for you to stuff in one ear, so you can squeeze the important stuff that clangs around in your head all day out the other ear, and you can enjoy some of the sounds of silence. According to Archeology magazine, recent discoveries have revealed the brand of coffee that was served on the Titanic. It was Sanka. Bad choice. If the answer is “A police flashlight” what is the question. Don’t know do you. I’ll tell you in a minute. According to Cosmo, the average American woman kisses 79 men before she gets married. No report on how many men some girls kiss after they get married. Henry Ford grew marijuana. He said he was hoping to make plastic out of it. Riiggghht. If the answer is “A police flashlight” the question is, “What broke up most of your teenage relationships.” And the cops around my way had to be fast. In my neighborhood, putting the car in neutral was considered foreplay. Dick’s Details. They take your mind off your mind. Quick reminder. If you like these podcasts, or my spoken word story cds at dicksummer.com, or my book Staying Happy Healthy And Hot please tell a couple of friends. They might like them too, and you’d be doing me a favor.

Thursday, October 26th, 2017I am a fantasy fan. So I did today’s podcast about fantasies. A fantasy is what make sexy underwear so much fun. Fantasies can get you into trouble. But they can also get you into love affairs that last a lifetime. If it has been a while since you’ve had a fantasy, give today’s podcast a listen, please. By the way, the guy in this picture isn’t living a fantasy. He’s just making a big mistake.

Wednesday, October 25th, 2017Fantasies can get you in big trouble. That’s what today’s podcast is all about. A fantasy can push you to learn to fly an airplane, or tempt you to some tropical island, or even explode a relationship into a romance. I’m telling you from first hand experience.

Tuesday, October 24th, 2017Today’s podcast is about fantasies. Fantasies are the sparks that ignite an explosive romance. Sometimes they’re about wearing sexy underwear. Sometimes they’re just about teddy bears. Here’s one about teddy bears from my Lady Wonder Wench. It’s An example of the kind of spark that’s kept us in love for a long time.
Teddy bears are special. I should know, I have two of the very best: one came from a Louie Louie Lad overseas when I made the mistake of falling off my horse; and the other came from my own Lad, and that bear even talks to me. Anyone who has ever curled up with a t-b knows how well they listen. They never contradict or censure or laugh at you. They always giggle when you do, and they even frown with you at stuff you don’t understand. You can cry on them and wipe your nose on them; you can forget about them and leave them behind when you go out into the world. But THEY never leave YOU. If you look in the corner or at your old bed in your old bedroom, there they will be: waiting for you to grin and say “Hi, how are ya?” . . . waiting for you to pick them up and hug them and laugh with them once again. Teddy bears are the ultimate Louie Louie children. Never leave them behind if you can help it.

Monday, October 23rd, 2017Like lots of our friends, my Lady Wonder Wench and I have been together for a long time. As I told you in today’s podcast, it has been good…and comfortable…living together. Comfortable is good. But it’s also risky. The risk is that if we aren’t careful, the spark that ignited the explosion that changed our relationship into our romance can get lost behind all the trivia that piles up as the years go by. No spark…no explosion. No explosion…no romance. I like romance.

Sunday, October 22nd, 2017Fantasies turn underwear into lingerie. Fantasies are the subject of today’s podcast. They turn ordinary men and women into heroic movie stars, or dreadful villains. More importantly fantasies turn a relationship into a romance. A relationship builds over time, a romance just explodes. And a fantasy is usually the spark that ignites the explosion. Give a listen to today’s podcast and join the fun.
