Still A Little Summer Left Freebie

Saturday, September 14th, 2013

Where the heck did the summer go ? The lazy, crazy, hazy days of Summer…and the under the boardwalk nights, watching the fireworks…and making some of our own…and the most beautiful girls in the world in their summer dresses…and walking in the sand. There’s still some time left, but as Big Louie, his own bad self, the Chief Mustard Cutter of the Louie-Louie Generation always says: “Life is like a giant roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end the faster it goes.” Time to grab a share of the Summer love you’ve got coming to you…it’s going by pretty fast.

To celebrate the Summer…let me give you a “Where did the summer go” gift…for this week only. I’ll send you the Night Connections 3 personal audio album via a download…free. Just drop me a note at Dick@dicksummer.com When you get the album, if you feel like it, I’d appreciate it if you’d tell me which cuts you like, and which you don’t like. But you don’t have to do that if you don’t have the time/inclination. No strings. Free gift.

The Night Connections CD series is important to me, because lots of the stories in it started going around in my head because of phone calls that I got while I was on the air late at night. Anonymous voices on the phone are sometimes direct lines to the heart. Some of those folks told me things they’d never tell their therapists, their mates, or even their holy guys. And I’ve found over the years, that those gut honest stories are more common than most people believe. And it seems to me that if some of these things were happening to me, I’d like to know that I wasn’t the only one…I’d like to know I’m not alone.

Connections are two way streets. So these are very short stories…about two and a half minutes each…and if they’re doing what I hope they’ll do, you’ll want to supply your own conclusions to each of them. That’s something I’d also like you to tell me. What  do you think each of these people might do to resolve their situations. But as I said…there are no strings to this “End of Summer” celebration gift. Just send me an email: Dick@DickSummer.com .

Connections depend on communications…which often get pretty badly screwed up…even commercially. There are some really hair raising examples of that in the Dick’s Details Quiz. All the answers are in the current podcast.

1-    Which ball point pens will NOT impregnate you ?

2-    What connection did Colgate have with French porn?

3-    Who claimed that, “It takes an aroused man to make a chicken affectionate ?”

Dick’s Details. They take your mind off your mind.

One of the tracks from the brand new Night Connections 3 personal audio album is in the current podcast. It’s about a guy who was driving to his girlfriend’s home, when he almost got blown off the road with a cell phone call from her. It’s called, It’s Not Your Fault. Aren’t there some kind of hints in a relationship like that ? Isn’t there some heat missing…or maybe misplaced…some kind of hesitation in a caress ? When he looked deep into her eyes, didn’t he see some kind of confusion looking back…or even some kind of resentment ? I don’t know. If you have some clues about that, please let me know. I’d really appreciate it.

If you like the story, you can just keep the podcast. Or if you’d like a free download of the whole cd, just drop me an email… Dick@DickSummer.com …this week only. Feel free to pass the free download around to friends, but please don’t sell it.

“The Summer has inhaled, and held its breath too long,” is a line from a great old song. A line from another great song goes, “It’s a long, long time, from May to December. And the days grow short, as you reach September.” As Big Louie, his own bad self, the Chief Mustard Cutter of the Louie-Louie generation always says about this time of year, “Enjoy what’s left…before your birthday suit needs a pressing, and the candles cost more than your birthday cake.”

I have a date tonight with my Lady Wonder Wench. We’re going to a nice restaurant, and a show. She’s lovely in her loose fitting, blue, cotton, Summer dress. And I must admit I look dashing in my gold lame loin cloth and purple ostrich feather. I hope they don’t spoil the effect at the restaurant by making me put on a jacket.

That’s where I got lots of ideas for the stories in my Night Connections Personal Audio Cds. Lady Wonder Wench Rips Dickie-Quickie

Yes, we are on the Cape and yes, he did get ignored by all the pretty young things.  I am reminded of a young lady named Matilda who apparently had a bit of a crush on the Lad back when he was a lifeguard on Coney Island.  I wish I had known her; she had the good sense to throw the sandwich she’d made for him down onto the sand when she caught the “lifeguard” making eyes at a bikini.  So it seems to me that turnabout is fair play.

Of course, Big Louie ignores all the white-haired ladies who follow after the Lad here on the Cape.

Many years ago, I was a lifeguard at New York’s Coney Island. In those Bronzed God days, I felt it was my civic duty to take the occasional stroll down the beach to give the girls a chance to see me. I’m on Cape Cod right now. Just took a stroll down the beach, and the only girl who saw me started to giggle. I guess it was a LONG time ago. Oh the pain. Sunday’s podcast at www.dicksummer.com is a reminder that if you’re looking for some Summer lovin’…better pull in your belly, and get to it. There’s also a freebie this week.

Proud Podcast Participant, “Carole” says the current podcast is a lot like the message of the movie Avatar. And she’s right. But what has Peek-a-Boo got to do with it, and what’s Sudden Love all about. There’s lots going on in the podcast this week, including a story about what happened to my Lady Wonder Wench and me, when “Nothing Happened.”

The Point Of Peek-a-boo

Saturday, September 7th, 2013

I like my life. I try to understand what’s going on in it. But sometimes I get confused. For example, you play hooky, and they suspend you from school. You need to relax, so you go for a ride on a roller coaster. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. But a dog is a guy’s best friend. I hear many single women  saying all the good men are taken, but so many wives are always complaining about their husbands. Stuff like that just doesn’t make sense. As I explained in my book Staying Happy Healthy And Hot  (available at Amazon.com) I like stuff to make sense in my life. I’m not fond of confusion.

You know what makes sense ? Getting all comfortable, sitting here in my big, manly, black leather poppa chair in my living room watching baseball on the tube. Lots of people say football is the new national sport. But I like baseball. There’s only one game you can play with all your clothes on I like better than baseball. Baseball is mostly Summer slow, and it can go on all day or night…and sometimes does. And I like that. The other game I like a lot, is Peek-a-boo.  Peek-a-boo is the opposite of baseball. It’s sudden, it’s usually over in a minute or so, it’s not confusing, and there are usually lots of laughs involved. Plus…even senior members of the Louie Louie Generation can play peek-a-boo…and not even get winded. I did that last week, sitting right here in my chair, with the newest member of our family, little Ms. “I’m almost five, poppa” Cecelia. She loves playing peek-a-boo. And I love hearing her laugh.

You don’t have to be almost five to play peek-a-boo, even babies can play. It’s baked into our genes. Babies seem to instinctively know when you hide your eyes, that you’re playing with them. And if you cover their eyes, then suddenly take your hand away, and say “peek,” they laugh, and kick their feet, and pee. You become a god-like figure. It’s like you magically took the world away, and when you said peek, you suddenly brought it all back again. It’s sudden, and startling, and fun. Also, peek-a-boo is about the only game I know where there’s no confusion and no cheating. I think that’s why I don’t think anybody will ever play it on the internet.

If you think about it, peek-a-boo has a point. And it’s pretty profound. The point of peek-a-boo is…I see you. I really see you. I see who you are. I see that you want to play with me. I see that you really care about me, because you want to play with me. I see you smile. I see you laugh. And you see me. There are two of us…seeing each other…caring about each other…and laughing together. It’s one of the ways a kid can learn that  I see how much fun it is laughing with you, and smiling with you, and peeing all over you.

Dick’s Details  Quiz. All details are in the current podcast.

1-   What has 18 legs and catches flies?

2-   Where would you drown driving down an interstate highwy?

3-   Who suffers most from headaches, men or women ?

4-   Why don’t you want to watch the TV shows your dog likes ?

5-   Where did we get the idea of food fights ?

Dick’s Details. They take your mind off your mind.

The point of peek-a-boo is I see you…and I like being with you. It’s honest, intense and sudden. No confusion. Love can be like that too. Sudden. Sudden love isn’t always love at first sight. Sometimes you go quite a while knowing each other, and then wham…it just hits when you least expect it. There’s a story in the current podcast about what happened one night, when sudden love hit a man and woman.

It hit her first. It’s usually that way. He saw the explosion inside her. He saw her fall in love with him. It was sudden, honest and intense No confusion. He saw it happen. And it was so sudden that there wasn’t time to think. There was only time to feel the explosion…together.

The story is called, “Nothing Happened.” It’s from the Bedtime Stories Personal Audio CD. If you like it, you can just keep the current podcast, or if you want a fresh copy, check out the Bedtime Stories icon on the home page.

The point of peek-a-boo is that I see you. Funny how words can mean so many different things. When you say ICU In a hospital, you’re talking about the intensive care unit. That’s where people get the most intense attention available. And that’s what happens with peek-a-boo. And  also with sudden love.

Wonder Wench Writes

Wednesday, September 4th, 2013

All right, all you Louie Louie Lasses … the wave, please, for the lady with guts and now the glory.  Yea, Diana Nyad!

As for the Lad … he really does not know what bumps in the road are, and I am seriously considering showing him.  But that would cut into my enjoyment of being his lass of choice, so … maybe next year …

At least I know one thing:  ain’t a Louie Louie Lass alive who prefers texting to sex.  Not on our watch, thank you …

I expect all of you lasses to keep the home fires burning (and I do mean burning) while I take the lad of my choice away for a few days.  I don’t know what, if anything, we will accomplish out there, but it will be fun.

He is learning a new laptop, cursing all the while, so don’t expect real miracles from His Own Bad Self.  But there is always a miracle around the corner … if he can find the corner …

Diana Nyad is Big Louie’s kind of lady. She failed 4 times to swim 110 miles in open ocean with no shark cage. Year after year, the frustration and anger grew. But what nobody but Diana herself knew, was that her determination grew even faster than her anger and frustration.

Three lessons here for our whole Louie Louie generation:

1- Determination can be more powerful than anger and frustration.

2- There are simply some things more important than fear. Was she scared ? Are you kidding? 110 miles in a nest of sharks !

3-  64 years is just a number, not a limitation.

Louie Louie Lads and Ladies will start worrying about our age when we stop being so successful and sexy.
